We visit So-Cal in Nor-Cal!

As many hot rodders already know, the original So-Cal Speed Shop has been expanded to include several other locations in the USA in recent years; we’ve been to the Pomona location a couple of times, and also the one in Las Vegas, so while in Sacramento, a visit to the local store was definitely on our list of things to do. We’d already met Adam England, their Parts Manager at the Hot Rod Reunion, who’d also recommended that we stop by and check it out. Our first impression was the size of the place, the shop is huge inside and our pic is only half the width of the place. (That’s Adam in the picture, pretending to look busy!)  2014-10-23 00.22.23The showroom is over 7000 square feet in size and as expected, is crammed with cool parts.

Before we even got in the door however, we were greeted by talented local artist Bruce Gossett, who was busy signwriting the front door of the shop. Bruce is known for lampooning well known hot rod logo’s, the So-Fowl artwork at the top of the page is his work and is hanging in the back office at the Speed Shop. Bruce is also the man behind much of the Cock Grease pomade artwork, so it was cool to meet him in person. At time of writing, Bruce has started a massive mural on the side of the Sacramento building, we look forward to seeing it when its done.

After a good browse, we bought a few parts and Adam cut us a great deal, before taking us out back to check out this ’32 Roadster they’d recently put together. Featuring a ‘glass body, small block Chevy and a Duvall style screen, the car was built using many of So-Cal’s products and Adam told us it was soon to be offered for sale.

We were definitely given a warm welcome at the Sacramento shop and have since shopped with them again since arriving home. If you are in Northern California, its well worth a visit, tell ’em we sent you!
