Visitors arriving at this website for the first time may be wondering about the tab at the top called ‘The House of Wax’, and wondering what that has got to do with things automotive that we regularly cover in this new section. Let’s explain. When we started out this website lark we always fancied having a store attached to sell who-knows-what, though it was mainly to offer some of the cooler DVD’s coming out of America in small numbers, things like Deuce of Spades, the Choppertown Series, and Brian Darwas titles, to name but a few. T-shirts followed in limited numbers, and also a small amount of hair grease whose name is well known by now. All have sold well, but it was soon apparent that some of this stuff has a limited shelf life, (or limited supply).
The exception to this was the range of pomade products which not only sold well, but generated repeat sales from happy customers, so we thought about adding another range and when we saw the cool Suavecito branding at the Lone Star Round Up, over in Texas, we added that to the range, then another, High Life and Voodoo Brew found us, so we sold that too, until it was decided to specialize in importing these products and offer them under the name ‘House of Wax’. So now we continue to write on here about the stuff we like, while also having a separate link to the store which is mostly now pomade and grooming products and merchandise. Although this new website is still only less than six months old we’re seeing business from the store grow month on month, though at the moment our similar Ebay store still generates the most sales.
No-one could have predicted a few years ago the sudden popularity again in beards, least of all us, yet here we are now stocking Cock Grease and High Life moustache wax, High Life Beard oil, and the best seller of the lot, the fantastically named Beard Commander Wonder Balm from Texas. Check them out if you’re sick of shaving every morning!
Although always conceived as an online enterprise, we do like to get out and about and meet our customers at various shows and we’ve moved from a trade stall at selected rod runs, more towards Vintage markets and shows with a nostalgia vibe like Hipsville, The Trip Out, and The Weekend Frenzy. So far this year, we’ve booked places at all these shows this summer, so come over and say Hi!
Hipsville at Bisley, Surrey 15-17th May where we’re sponsoring the Sunday Car Show.
The Weekend Frenzy 22-24th May
The Hot Rod Hayride 24-26th July (to be confirmed)
The Trip Out 4-6th September we’ll be sponsoring the Mr Beardo competition
We’ll add any more dates as they come up.
For the future we have a new brand range to offer in the next couple of months, a new name to the pomade world, but a proven product, we’ll have more details on that in due course. We also want to expand our portfolio of re-sellers and Barber shops, we can do wholesale prices so please let us know if there’s a cool barber’s near you that needs the House of Wax!
Thanks for looking
